You will need to use something like Mesh Mixer to convert the STL to a solid type (STEP, IGS, etc.) file. The STL will not import directly into Inventor as a Solid. MeshMixer is a free, user-friendly STL editor developed by Autodesk. I wonder if a model could be uploaded to Shapeways and then downloaded - perhaps they might provide the cleaned-up version? (They use Netfabb.) I'm truly sorry I can't be of more help! If you do find a method that works, please let me know and I'll update my documentation. MeshMixer is still available, though, and may work for you. Įxport Lesser, Detailed Blocks Non-Manifold Issuesīut, like I say, Netfabb is no longer directly available.

Meshmixer seems to be no longer in developement, with their integration of similar features with fusion360 according to their site. It's always better to get a CAD file in a common interchange format such as a STP (STEP) file if you can, though.Īll 50+ "Complicated" Autodesk software explained in 12 minutes There are programs such as Meshmixer specifically intended to do that, others such as Blender which can do a good job (but beware of missing surfaces or inside-out triangles) and some CAD programs such as Fusion 360 which have the ability to convert meshes. Jesse: Our team is currently using Blender for modeling, Maya for rigging and animation, Adobe Substance 3D Painter and Designer, and Zbrush for sculpting. Zbrush can easily handle sculpting and prepping models to be sent to the printer's slicing software. Zbrush also offers a stripped down free version for beginners and dabblers called Zbrush Core Mini. It has recently switched to subscription only. Zbrush is the gold standard and it's not cheap. On the My Licenses page on there's a button to cancel my subscription, but instead it takes me to a page that says. Probably a dumb question but: How do I cancel my subscription?

Another option is to join his ZBrush Jewellery Workshop (one time, lifetime fee) which includes lots of learning materials for ZBrush and. You could join his discord and ask for more detail there. He did stream live critiques, not just for jewellery, but don't know his current schedule.
